Planning a second trip

Today I had class until 12:00 noon, and then I walked to the train station to buy a ticket! There is a group of 6 of us going to Wales this weekend!...Me, Sarah, Jennifer, Kelly, Josh, and Brent. We have Friday off, so we'll leave Thursday afternoon and get back Sunday afternoon. We're going to Snowdonia, partly because it's just a really cool/funny name, and partly because we're going to climb Mt. Snowdon (the tallest mountain in Wales)! There are also lots of gorgeous beaches on the nearby coast. It's going to be a very adventurous and outdoorsy trip :), and very different from our trip to London last weekend!

At the train station, we all bought youth rail passes. They cost each of us about $40, but they will give us 30% off of any UK train tickets we purchase for the rest of the semester! A great deal. Anyway, the man at the desk told us we each needed to give him a photo I.D. with a picture he could cut out and paste on our youth rail pass. The only things we had were our licenses and passports - both of which could not be cut up!

So, we resorted to Plan B: photo booth in the train station. This is the kind that takes 4 pictures in a row and then prints them in a vertical strip. It was really expensive though, about $6 a piece....so we decided to be creative and save money. One person would put the money in and take the first picture, and then they would jump out and the next person would swich with them really quickly and pose just as the machine took the second picture...and so on until all 4 pictures were taken! Haha we only had to pay for 2 sets of pictures since there were only 6 of us! We were dying laughing throughout the entire process, so the pictures on our rail passes are really funny, and we caused quite a scene in the train station :). I'm sure we didn't help the stereotypes Brits already have about us loud Americans!

LISA! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. You are such a gifted writer -- I feel like I am right there experiencing it all with you (wish I was, actually!). Leigh Ann's office is next to mine, and on the days when I get to check your journal I know she can hear me laughing out loud. I hope you continue to have fun -- but don't forget to keep writing so we can have fun with you! Thanks for brightening my days!

    God bless,

    Becky Poindexter :)
